How the Ask page works

Using Ask to understand your organisation intelligence

What Ask is

Ask lets Leaders ask questions about anything their Team has shared with leep, and get a written summary back with cited sources. Ask searches your Team Memory which is the archive of every response across every leep and Team. It allows you to gather the information you need without sending a new leep or chasing your team for updates.

Why use Ask instead of create a new leep?

If you want to ask your Team a new question, create a leep. If you want to understand what your Team has already shared, use Ask.

How it works

  1. Open Ask from the main menu.

  2. Type or speak your question as you would ask a colleague.

  3. leep searches your Team Memory for responses, Signals and Actions relevant to your question.

  4. You get a written summary, with its sources listed underneath. Tap a source to open the Signal or response behind it.

  5. Ask a follow-up in the same thread to go deeper. leep keeps the full thread, so you can come back to it later.

If the Team Memory has nothing that matches the topic you've asked about, Ask will let you know and offer to turn your question into a draft leep, ready for you to review and send.

What you can ask

You can ask about anything your Team already responded to, even if it was shared months ago. Leaders most often use Ask for these:

Use Ask for

Example question

A broad pulse check

How are things across the Team this week?

A topic or project

What has the Team said about the roadmap?

A person

How is Alex going? What has she mentioned lately?

A Team

What's going well for the Product Team?

Signals

Which Signals need attention right now?

Actions

What Actions are still open from last week?

A past leep

What was my last leep about, and how did people respond?

1:1 prep

What should I cover in my 1:1 with Alex?

Meeting prep

Summarise this month's themes for my QBR.

Follow-ups also work e.g. "Who mentioned that?", "Has this changed since August?" or "Show me the responses behind that."

What Ask won't do

  • Know what nobody has said. Ask only draws on responses in the Team Memory, so if a topic hasn't come up, it says so rather than guessing.

  • Pull in outside data. Ask doesn't read your other tools, such as Microsoft Teams, Notion or email.

  • Create charts or documents. You get a written summary with sources. You can copy or share it outside of leep, or use API or MCP to query in your LLM.

  • Contact your Team. Ask never sends anything to team members. To ask them something new, send a leep.

Archived and paused leeps always stay searchable, so their responses still show up in Ask.

Tips for better results

  • Be specific. Name the person, Team, topic or time period you care about.

  • One question at a time. Use follow-ups to narrow down rather than packing everything into one message.

  • Check the sources. Before you act on something about a named person, open the responses behind it.

  • Feed the Team Memory. Open-ended leeps give Ask quotable responses to draw on. The more your Team responds over time, the better Ask gets.
