Using Signals

How to access, interpret and use your team's intelligence

What is a Signal?

Signals are aggregated themes raised by your team. Signals can originate from a handful of responses from a single person, or from a broader trend across your whole team. Signals can surface patterns over a few days, or highlight trends over several months and quarters.

You can set up email or push notifications to be alerted whenever a new Signal is ready. You can also access Signals directly via the homepage of the mobile app, and in your briefing email.

What should I do with a Signal?

Acknowledge it

We recommend acknowledging Signals when they arrive across your team. One tap tells the team member that their input landed with you, and is the best thing you can do to keep responses coming. Team members will receive your acknowledgement via email and in their next leep question. If a signal came from a number of team members, your acknowledgement will be shared across those who contributed to it

Prepare for 1:1s

Signals are the raw material for your 1:1s, your team stand-up and your strategic reviews, which means those meetings can start at the decision instead of the status update. Head into your team member's profile to see their recent themes so that you can close the loop on the issues and opportunities that matter most to your direct report.

How do I dig deeper into a leep response?

Tap anything underlined in the mobile app. Topics, teams, people, projects and time periods are all tappable, so you can follow one answer out to everything related to it.

View verbatim responses

If you’d prefer to read verbatim responses from your team instead of a summary, you can also tap through and view the exact conversation transcript.

Create follow up leep questions

You can also ask a follow up question - leep will pre-populate this with a suggested follow up based on the answers from your team. These will be shared with your team the next day as a follow up.

Chat with leep

If you'd rather just ask, use the Ask page and put your question in plain language: "what's slowing down the regional rollout?" It searches everything your team has told you, including archived leeps.
